In this work, I am researching plants and animals that can hide, hibernate, or go dormant. I am interested in utilizing this as a metaphor to discuss how it would be nice to hide from the current social and political events. These works provide narratives about isolation and courage.
Sacred Space: Mourning and Protection
This work is hand-fabricated with copper and sterling silver. The flower is removable and can be worn as a brooch. The copper sculpture stays on the wall to await the return of the flower after a day of adventure. Private Collection. 6” x 2.5” x .5”. 2020

This line is created by hand-cross-stitching. It signifies performative time and the loss of life. The line is hung at 20” high to represent the height of a headstone as well as referencing a water line after a flood. This particular piece includes 18,180 stitches.
